As of now, I have read a lot of books on various versions and imaginations of Mahabharata. I sometimes don’t pick up more books from the shelves because I feel it is too overwhelming, and I should try something else now. However, Sonali Raje (the author of this book) contacted me on Twitter and sent her debut book for review. As the name suggests, it is another version of Mahabharata. I was not sure what more an author could bring to the table when we already have so many books by so many famous authors.
However, I still tried it and started it last Thursday. And by Saturday, I was done with the book. Whenever I left reading, one part of my brain always thought about what would happen next to Draupadi, and I would return to where I had left.
The author mentions that the basic storyline is the same, but many characters and conversations are fictitious. But what creativity and what an absolutely beautiful style of writing.! I was hooked on the story and wanted to complete it asap. It is recommended for everyone who likes this genre and can read about someone else’s imagination of the Mahabharata, especially about each character’s conversations and thought processes. This one is mainly from the view point of Draupadi!
Well Done, Sonali. Eagerly waiting for the second part!
